We woke up early for a Saturday and had breakfast at The Beachcomber Cafe in Crystal Cove. We hadn't been in awhile and they changed up the menu a little bit. Fortunately, they still had beignets and complimentary French toast for birthdays, which were the important things. Afterwards, we drove up to Garden Grove to check out the New Year's festival. Parking was crazy, but we managed to find a spot and got shuttled over to the fairgrounds. We got free samples, ate a small lunch, watched a couple shows, and the kids played on a playscape for a little while. It was an interesting experience, but maybe not one I would have again unless the kids really wanted to go back.
After grabbing a few groceries at a local Asian market, we went to my Aunt Monica's house for dinner. All my cousins and their families were there, along with my brother and his family. We all enjoyed a home-cooked meal and the adults handed out red envelopes to the kids. My aunt's family has always been so kind to us ever since we moved to California over 2.5 years (can you believe it's been that long?!) and we appreciate them always including us in special family gatherings.
Trung has always wanted fuller lips
The girls insisted that I take a picture with them in the coach wagon
People kept giving the kids lollipops and they ended up with three each!

Red envelope = $1
The smile on her face = priceless!
These girls crack me up
Our very small contribution to dinner...a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake.
All the kids, majority girls, watching "Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings"
Teddy, my aunt's dog, just jumped on top of Trung and they shared a tender moment. :P
