Weed week

Nothing interesting really happened this week. The weather was nice every day, so the kids played in the driveway while I did some much needed weeding. I know that I should just use weed killer, but I feel much happier getting to the "root" of the problem. Hopefully new weeds (or non uprooted ones) won't pop up soon.

This week has also been Austin Restaurant Week (ARW), where participating fine dining restaurants offer three course dinners for $25 or $35. A couple friends and I went to Green Pastures on Wednesday night; I enjoyed a delicious dinner of tempura lobster, trout, and bread pudding, all for only $25! It was nice getting an excellent meal for about half of its original price, but I would have "spent" less just eating at home. Plus, I felt bad that Trung didn't get to enjoy ARW too.

Little did I know that Trung had purchased two $25 gift cards from Restaurant.com for $4 several months back, and one of the restaurants, Fino, happened to be a participating ARW restaurant. So, Saturday evening, armed with both kids, we enjoyed a meal of hummus & flat bread (mainly for the girls), sea bass, and flat iron steak. Fino was good, but we still like Wink better. Also, we were still a little hungry since the portions were so small that we went to Tapioca House for some Taiwanese fried chicken nuggets and milk tea...that hit the spot! We finally stopped by Cornucopia to try some uniquely seasoned popcorn. The dill pickle popcorn was very interesting and the loaded potato was not very flavorful; we ended up with a small bag of ranch popcorn...not bad!
