One is silver and the other gold

These last couple days the girls and I have been hanging out with friends, old and new. My high school friend Sarah came up to Austin on Thursday and we got to catch up with her for a few hours. Lydia loved her new puzzle and Sophie enjoyed drooling on her new teddy bear.
Today Susanna and I took the kiddos out to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Our first stop was Target to buy some odds and ends...the kids fit perfectly in the store's "car". At one point in time Susanna and I separated, and she took the kids. She said people were commenting how cute "her kids" were...hee hee. Imagine really having three kids these ages to tote around if it was feasibly possible! It sure is fun though, but totally crazy!

Queen of Clutter

Yes, Trung has on several occasions commented on how much clutter I somehow produce, so he had the genius idea of helping me really organize my "organized chaos". Here's a pic of the dining room/office where the majority of my inventory was stored. I forgot to take a picture of everything before I moved it into the guest bedroom, but basically, all the clothes were bagged up by line (ex. Cupcake Cutie, Happy Rainbow) and placed on top, below, or next to the back table. Before...
and after...

Wow, we can totally see the window now!
The guest bedroom when I moved all the bags...
and now all that's left...I love this new storage system because now I can find items so much quicker and time is money! :P Thanks, honey for the great idea and for helping me put the shelves together! (Well, helping me put one together and then doing another one entirely by yourself as I watched the Oscars.)

Morning fun with Lydia and Sophie

The night that I decide to let Sophie cry it out, she sleeps from 7 PM - 7 AM. The very next night, she wakes up at 5:55 AM, so I let her cry it out. After about twenty minutes, I go to lay Sophie back down and she is quiet for about five minutes and then starts crying again. Needless to say, this experiment backfired though she slept from 7 to 7 again last night. I have no idea why she sleeps through some days and not others, maybe she's cold or just plain hungry. Any ideas? Regardless, she's always chipper in the mornings...

When I was pregnant with Sophie, people that had kids close in age told me that it would be hard juggling two kids at the beginning, but that it would get easier. I think we've finally reached that point...the girls play pretty well with each other though Lydia is still a bit rough. They give each other plenty of attention so that I don't need to. I'm looking forward to when they play with toys together; right now they play with separate toys in the same room, which is good enough by me!

Walk the walk and talk the talk

The girls are growing up so fast! Lydia is talking so much; we don't know where she picked up half the things she says. Sophie loves pushing around her hippo walker and took her very first step the other day! Watching her walk always makes me smile. :) Notice Sophie even has time to wave to her imaginary friends.

My Sweet Valentines

We had a lovely light dinner at The Seeping Room at The Domain, just the four of us. I knew that the place was known for its teas and coffees, but I didn't know that they served food too. The food took awhile to come out, but when it did, it was quite delicious and nutritious. For dessert, Trung and I enjoyed a deep chocolate caramel cake, while Lydia had a mini double chocolate cupcake. (The weather was too cold for Lydia to wear her Valentine's Day outfit. :( )

Sophie enjoyed Lydia's cupcake liner...and few tiny bites of our cake.
Happy Valentine's Day!

The sale that began it all

Warning...there will be some venting going on, but please do read and proceed with caution! :P
Around this time last year, the idea of opening an eBay store was concieved. My brother Mike was visiting from Dubai and I told him how I had bought a Gymboree velveteen coat and matching hat that retailed for $52.00 together for only $6.00! "Just imagine the profit!", I thought. Since then, I have built up over 30K worth of inventory, wisened up and always have a 20% off coupon on hand, and have even met some so-called competiton.

Just this morning, I ran into another eBay store owner who asked for my number after seeing how much I was purchasing. I'm not sure what to say if she ends up calling me because I'd rather return an item than exchange it. :/ Just minutes later, I received my first "call out". Yesterday while at another Gymboree location, this lady that I've seen several times in the past, kept standing really close to me as I was rummaging through the sale racks. Twice she reached across me to grab clothes that I was standing right in front of and taking items that I would have purchased! Rude! Needless to say, I wasn't very happy with her, so when she arrived at the Gymboree this morning and decided to yell across the store "you have an eBay store, right?" blah blah blah, I was not in the mood to talk. First of all, "what you don't know can't hurt you", so I haven't straight up told Gymboree associates that I resell on eBay, though it's obvious and they don't seem to mind. Also, the one time I did fess up to a Houston Gymboree store, they got all weird on me and started limiting my purchases. I totally understand if I'm buying out all the sizes, but not if I'm just buying a few here and there and random sale items; I do know most customers are purchasing for their own personal use. (Of course, that Houston Gymboree store let me purchase whatever I wanted of the older items, but when it came to the new items, the claws came out.)

Anyhow, I gave my usual speech to the lady how I buy for family and friends, which is very true, plus, I didn't feel the need to tell her any of my "business." So, I finished shopping and as I was leaving the store, I could hear her ask the manager what the policy was on reselling on eBay. I know what the rules are and follow them; if the managers are willing to bend the rules once in awhile for me since I am such a loyal customer, that is their choice (like extend a hold an extra day). Regular customers, however, have the same opportunity to buy the same clothes as I do, I don't get any special discounts or advance shopping time. After about thirty minutes, I called the Gymboree manager and she told me how she has had issues with that lady in that past and that her policy is to basically just sell clothes... to eBay store owners or not.

I know that I should probably expect other Gymboree customers to be angry with me because I am buying all the good deals, but "first come first serve". Plus, if they really wanted a certain item, they could have purchased it before the sale or made an effort to come in a day early or call and place it on hold. Please feel free to give any thoughts on this topic as I'm curious to know what you think.

Fever

Lydia was a bit warm/feverish off and on over the weekend, but was still pretty pleasant. Her MDO teacher Tania checked her temperature today and she was totally fine. Sophie, on the other hand, caught the fever (which I heard has been going around) and has not been eating very well. She would go back to sleep every thirty minutes and only wanted to nurse. Thankfully she felt better by dinnertime, so she ate some food and I didn't have to alter my breastfeeding routine. Please pray for Sophie as she is already on the small side and really needs to eat.

Home Improvements

Sophie has been waking up this past week around 4:30-5:30 every morning, so I feed her and she goes back to sleep until 7ish. The time may seem awfully early, but it is still over nine hours of sleep for the baby! So, rather than put Sophie down for the night at 7 PM, I am shooting for 8 PM so that I can get a couple more hours of sleep.

The eBay store has been picking up speed, so Trung and I are looking at getting some shelving to better organize the inventory. Everything is in bags by line (Social Butterfly, Wild One, etc...) and/or type of clothing by line (dresses, accessories, etc...). I know where everything is, but it would look much better if the clothes were in shelves or baskets rather than bags. We're not looking for anything fancy, just something sturdy.
