First bite...

and it wasn't from Sasha. Surprise, surprise. We went to our neighbor JT's house for some brisket and met a couple of his friends. All together there was about eight kids, including a set of triplets. Lydia was standing in a playpen while Trung and I were chatting, when suddenly, she bursted out crying. One of the other little kids fled the scene. As I was holding Lydia I noticed that she had bite marks on her hand, so apparently the little girl had bitten her. As it turns out, little Claire has been teething and found Lydia's plump little fingers to be all too tempting and had to have herself a nice bite. After a cold compress though, Lydia was back to her bubbly, babbling self.

Lydia on Youtube (take 2)

Lydia loves saying "dadda"! Yeah, just ignore the lady in the background, we had a very long night.

Maybe we should consider enrolling Lydia in a gymnastics class when she's older. Here's the next Nadia...

Many thanks to the father of my child for his hard work and dedication to this mini project, and especially to his daughter. *muah*

Congratulations!

Congratulations to my cousin Andrew in graduating with honors from his high school. His next move is attending Northwestern University in Chicago...knock them dead! I attended his graduation ceremony with my parents and other relatives, while Trung stayed at home with a napping Lydia. Trung and Lydia met us for scrumptious Japanese food at Mikado and triple chocolate cake from Whole Foods for lunch; we were stuffed! Hmmm, I do recall blogging about being stuffed a lot lately; boy, it's going to be hard maintaining my weight once I stop breastfeeding!

Other news: Lydia is now a full fledged crawler and has two front teeth. Her success rate in getting her cereal puffs into her mouth is at 50%, up from 0% last week. Trung has been working on a couple more youtube clips for those of you anxious to see Lydia's progress. In the meantime, happy Memorial Day weekend!

My man, Apolo

Whoo-hoo, I knew Apolo could do it! Though I wonder, was that his mom sitting next to his dad in the show? She looked, um, interesting. Anyhow, you go, dude! I'd love to cha-cha with you anyday! :)

As for American Idol, well, duh...Jordin better win because there was obviously no competition in last night's performances. Melinda really would have been a better competitor, but America apparently didn't think so. Then again, America loves Blake. We shall see...oh we'll see!

Vegas, baby. YEAH!

Cora and I flew out from Houston to Las Vegas Friday night and arrived around midnight, witnessing the bright lights of the Vegas strip. After the shuttle ride to our hotel and checking-in, we finally hit the sack around 1:30 AM (3:30 AM CST). We are both accustomed to sleeping between 9-11 PM, so we were completely exhausted to say the least.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at the Bellagio and we LOVED it, well, the actual hotel that is. The food was delicious (I had a lobster omelet, while Cora had mixed berry pancakes), but it was practically offset by the horrible service. We walked around several other hotels and shopped a little before heading to a dinner buffet at the Rio. We were so stuffed that we had to wait a good thirty minutes before heading back to Bally's for our first Vegas show, Jubilee! What a show! I would totally recommend seeing it to anyone who wants to see a true Vegas showgirl show. After the show we went back to the Bellagio, of course, for some drinks and a great view of the dancing fountains.
Sunday, we tried to sleep in a bit and then had a quick breakfast at the hotel's cafe. After picking up our Mystere tickets at Treasure Island, we went shopping at Fashion Show Mall and the Canales at the Venetian. Then we attended our Cirque de Soleil show, which was good, though I have to agree with Trung, once you see one, they are all pretty much the same. Still, it was Cora's first show and it wasn't too bad. We ate at a Hawaiian restaurant afterwards and then called it quits because we had to wake up at 4:45 AM the next morning for our shuttle pick-up. Overall, we didn't do too much since it's really all about the gambling and we only spent a buck each on the slots, but we had a wonderful time chilling and experiencing this place called VEGAS!

Doing well

Sasha seems to be recovering quite nicely. The vet feared that she wouldn't eat, but she is eating her dry food and drinking her water just fine. What a relief!

Early this morning, one of Lydia's toys went off. Apparently, Sasha has turned it on by rubbing against it or jumping on it or something, anyhow, the leappad just started talking. After watching the invisible Jacob episode of lost, it was pretty freaky.

In honor of Sasha

Sasha is in surgery today to remove her bad teeth. I just received a phone call from the vet, saying that her mouth was worse than it looked before. So, rather than two teeth having to be pulled, he's now looking at five with a couple more needing to be x-rayed. At least she will still have some teeth to eat her dry food because I've tried giving her wet food, and she'd have none of that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today, Sasha.

Relaxation 101

I got a chance yesterday to use a gift certificate that my friends gave me to Halina's Euro Spa. I got a facial and for the first ever, fell asleep during the process. I guess I had too much excitement this past weekend with Mike in town. :)

Lydia's First Computer

Trung helped Lydia put together her very first computer yesterday.
Even though she was working really hard (or hardly working), she still managed to find time to flash Mommy a bright smile!

The meow meow

It seems that as Lydia's first little tooth is coming in, Sasha's teeth are going. According to the vet, at least two of the cat's teeth have to be pulled along with some iffy ones. Poor Sasha, all this time she's had this infection and we'd didn't even know about it though the decayed teeth are mainly in the back, so we really couldn't see them. Surgery will set us back a few hundred dollars. *sigh*

We had left Sasha with my parents in the past and honestly, it was nice not having to make sure the doors were always closed or she'd run out, or having to feed her and change her litter. As of lately, we had been considering giving Sasha away, but Lydia seems to be quite taken with her and I've had the cat longer than I've known Trung! Well, now with these current news, I think Trung and I are really going to have to think long and hard about whether or not to keep Sasha. If you'd ask me a year ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about giving her away, but now with a baby, and more babies in the near future, it's almost hard not to give her away. What to do, what to do.
